Special Consultant to Exceptional Music:
Katie Shirk is a well known educator, consultant and presenter in the Michigan area. She is a mother of two and a District Teacher Consultant for Northville Public Schools, where she has been an educator for the past 14 years. Katie also provides technical support to many districts on consultation and assessment working with Instructional Consultation Assessment Teaming. She has a BA from Eastern Michigan University, in both general education and special education with certification working with children who have emotional impairments. Katie also has a Masters degree in special education from the University of Michigan and is certified to teach children with learning disabilities. She has presented several times at the Michigan Council for Exceptional Children conference, with a focus on a variety of ways to teach children with special needs. She also presents through the Early Learning Series to educators and parents of the early childhood population. Katie has spent her career teaching parents, educators, and children of all ages while continuing to grow her knowledge and expertise across multiple disciplines.
